The Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors held their third and final budget meeting on December 16, 2009 at 7:30 pm at the Township hall. Members of the Board present were Mrs. Cohen, Mr. Ledbetter and Mr. Morrisson. Mr. Vutz and Mrs. Williams were not present. Audience members were Supervisor elect, Fred Parry, Planning Commission member, Tom Davis, the Township Police Chief, James Fetterman, the Township Roadmaster, Nicholas Cinciripino, the Township Fire Marshal, Rick Beittel, Jr. and Rick Loughery from the Township Board of Auditors. The public meeting was duly advertised in The Mercury.
The Board of Supervisors was again presented with a balanced budget based on the outcome of the discussion held at the November 10 board meeting. No tax increase was proposed. On motion by Mr. Ledbetter, seconded by Mr. Morrisson and passed, the Board approved the 2010 budget.
On motion by Mr. Ledbetter, seconded by Mrs. Cohen, and passed, the Board approved the Schuylkill Township Historical Commission‘s recommendation to issue the demolition permit submitted by the Phoenix Communities for the three structures at 1429 State Road.
On motion by Mr. Ledbetter, seconded by Mr. Morrisson and passed the board approved the Historical Commissions recommendation that the road White Horse by officially designated White Horse (two words) Road and that road sign replacements will occur as replacement is needed. The Board of Supervisors will coordinate the official name with Charlestown township through the Regional Planning Committee.
On motion by Mr. Ledbetter, seconded by Mr. Morrisson, and passed, the Board approved the Schuylkill Township Historical Commission’s recommendation that the Historic Resource Inventory be amended to add the 1930 Schuylkill School as a Class I in the Inventory as a building, structure or district listed in or determined eligible to the National Register of Historic Places.
On motion by Mr. Morrisson and seconded by Mr. Ledbetter with Mrs. Cohen dissenting, the Schuylkill Township Historical Commission’s recommendation that the former Pasquale property be officially name Historic Valley Park was not approved since a quorum the Board of Supervisors did not approve the motion. The motion will again be presented at the January 4, 2010 Board meeting.
There being no further business for discussion the Board adjourned at 7:40 p.m
