Open Space Commission
MEETING DATE: January 14, 2008

MEMBERS:  Bob Mauch, Bud Emig, Greg Blazic, Gary Gounaris, Tim McAvoy, Bob Cooney, Bereth Graeff and Walter Mostek.

ATTENDANCE:    All present

REORGANIZATION:        

Bob Mauch nominated Greg Blazic for Treasurer, the motion was seconded by Gary Gounaris and passed unanimously
Secretary nominated by Bob Cooney nominated Bereth Graeff for secretary, the motion was seconded by Tim McAvoy and passed unanimously.
Bob Cooney nominated Tim McAvoy for Vice Chair, seconded  by Gary Gounaris and passed unanimously.
Tim McAvoy nominated Bob Cooney for chair, seconded by Bob Mauch and passed unanimously.

CALLED TO ORDER:  Bob Cooney, Chairman of the Open Space Commission called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m.

MINUTES:

  • Motion to approve minutes from the December 10,  2007 meeting was made by Tim McAvoy  seconded by Bud Emig, and passed unanimously.

PROPERTY OUTREACH

Bob Mauch reported on a meeting with NLT. The Marketing committee will work with NLT to compile a newsletter and direct mailer to send out to the top 20 candidates in the township.  If they are known to any of the commission members then a personal phone call will be placed and a script will be followed with the objective of organizing a meeting with that candidate and NLT representative, Jack Stefferud, to discuss open space options.

It was discussed that a general meeting will be held with landowners in the home of a person who has been involved in an open space transaction.

Material provided from NLT that included open space script, letter and sample material.

Next step, the marketing subcommittee will meet and go over the material and get together.

NEW BUSINESS

 

FINANCE

New 2008 Budget was circulated by Greg Blazic.  EIT Collections estimated to be $775,000 with investment income of $35,000.  Proceeds from bank borrowing are estimated to be $3,435,000 for Total Open Space Commission Revenue, budgeted at $4,245,000.  Expenditures were roughly itemized and estimated to be $3,720,600 leaving the Open Space Commission with an ending cash position of roughly $824,400.

            Contract executed by Norman Vutz with Stevens and Lee.

            Motion to move into executive session was made at 8:10 by Bud Emig, seconded by Bob Mauch and passed unanimously
