Mission & Goals
The Building and Zoning Department’s mission and goals are to safeguard the safety, health, and general welfare of township residents from hazards in the built environment. The department strives to ensure a fair, equitable, and consistent application of the Township Zoning Ordinance (first enacted in 1955) and the Uniform Construction Code of 2018.
The primary goal of our code enforcement is to establish voluntary compliance through contact, education, and guidance with enforcement actions being taken as a last resort.
Responsibilities
The Building and Zoning Department directs applicants for any building project through the requirements of zoning, the permitting process, plan review, and necessary inspections for any project. The department also proactively addresses code enforcement matters that include the accumulation of trash or debris, inoperable or unlicensed vehicles, and certain other exterior property issues.
