Private well-owners are responsible for ensuring that their well water is safe to drink. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) safeguards the public water supply in the United States. However, the EPA does not monitor or treat private well drinking water.
Chester County Health Department no longer provides well water testing. A list of testing labs is maintained on the Chester County Health Department website. Each lab may have different protocols for testing; call if you need to drop off samples.
